From Training to Mentorship: How Two Barbers are Shaping the Future

Two students who opened their own barber shop are now helping the next generation by bringing on an apprentice.
Training and Beginnings
Dean Watson (25) from Dromore and Lee Parker (26) from Lisburn met on a barbering course at South Eastern Regional College (SERC)'s Lisburn Campus back in 2018. Despite different backgrounds, they found common ground in their passion for barbering.
Passion for the Craft
Both faced different career paths after finishing their GCSEs but ultimately pursued their love for barbering. The journey included overcoming doubts and challenges but led to the realization that barbering was their true calling.
Growth and Challenges
After setting up their own shop in Lisburn in 2019, the onset of the pandemic posed a challenge. Determined and committed, they navigated the hurdles, expanding their business and community involvement.
Mentorship and Expansion
In a bid to nurture young talent, the duo has taken on an apprentice and plans for further business development. Their commitment to community engagement and empowering the next generation continues to drive their success.
