The Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service (NIFRS) has officially opened its new £50 million state-of-the-art Learning & Development College, outside Cookstown. Supported by the Northern Ireland Executive and the Department of Health, the facility offers immersive training environments and specialist simulation spaces that reflect real-life emergency scenarios.
Revolutionizing Training Methods
NIFRS Chief Fire & Rescue Officer Aidan Jennings emphasized the importance of the college in enhancing emergency incident intervention and resolution. The college signifies a new era of continuous learning and development for NIFRS personnel.
State-of-the-Art Facilities
Phase 2 of the college includes various specialized facilities such as a flood water rescue facility, a training warehouse, a call out village, and more. The completion of Phase 1 in 2019 marked the inauguration of tactical firefighting facilities at the site.
