Beware: PayPal Users Targeted in Sophisticated Scam

Everyone with a PayPal account is being warned to watch out for fraudsters after a huge increase in attacks on the platform.

According to security experts McAfee Labs, there has been a staggering 600 percent increase in PayPal attacks since the beginning of the year. The majority of these scams come in the form of emails claiming that accounts have been suspended, with users urged to update their details to reinstate them.

Other fraudulent tactics include counterfeit PayPal gift card offers, bogus invoices and customer support scams relating to billing issues. McAfee emphasizes the importance of caution when opening messages purporting to be from PayPal and advises vigilance for links to websites that aren't official PayPal domains.
