Majority of Brits Embracing Greener Living Through Easy Changes

Survey Results
A survey of 2,000 adults has shown that a massive 78 per cent of Brits are making efforts to reduce their carbon footprint. This includes using reusable bags, LED bulbs and energy-saving appliances. Some are also reducing their energy consumption by avoiding single-use plastic and swapping fast fashion for sustainable brands.

Home Improvements
When it comes to home improvements, another 79 per cent are monitoring their energy usage, with 43 per cent having made upgrades to increase energy efficiency. This often involves switching to a green energy provider or installing renewable energy sources.

Towards Net Zero
The study found that Brits turn to various resources for eco-friendly inspiration, including environmental charities, government websites and friends and family. Despite these strides, two-thirds believe they could still do more to improve their energy usage. A staggering nine out of ten believe they could save money by only boiling the kettle with as much water as needed, turning off appliances on standby and switching off lights in unused rooms.

Scottish Gas Partnership
Scottish Gas has teamed up with Murrayfield in a new venture to assist rugby clubs throughout Scotland cut their carbon footprint and slash energy costs through the Club and Community Net Zero Fund. The scheme is set to offer nationwide clubs grants for boosting their energy efficiency and deliver tailored advice on cutting carbon output, bolstering Scottish communities in their journey towards the Scottish Government’s target of attaining Net Zero by 2045. The three-stage process will see a series of energy-saving measures adopted around the Murrayfield estate, including the installation of panoramic power sensors and LED controls on lights, as well as encouraging best-practice behavioural changes amongst staff. Ex-Scotland international Tommy Seymour highlighted: "There's more emphasis on energy saving across society than ever. "Sport can be a great vehicle to inspire change, so it's brilliant that we're tackling carbon emissions at Scottish Gas Murrayfield and helping communities across Scotland become more energy efficient."
