A number of play parks across Northern Ireland have been refurbished over the past year. Play parks can be a great option for a cheap and cheerful day out with the kids, with plenty of great spots across the region to visit if you fancy trying somewhere different from your neighbourhood park. Many of the newly refurbished council parks have been updated with inclusive play equipment, making sure there's something for everyone to enjoy. Grampian Avenue Play Park - East Belfast: Last month, a newly upgraded playground was unveiled, featuring a variety of play equipment including sensory features, accessible springer, and inclusive swings. Pitt Park - East Belfast: A new nautical-themed play park opened last summer. City of Belfast Playing Fields - Mallusk: Recently inaugurated, offering a modern, accessible play area. Renovated Park - Mayor's Opening: A park in Northern Ireland received a revamp in April 2025, funded through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund. Steeple Park - Reopened Play Area: After a £100,000 refurbishment, this park reopened in December 2024. Newtownards Refurbishment: A major £220,000 refurbishment brings modern, inclusive equipment. Ward Park - Bangor: A newly opened play park after a £250,000 investment. Fort Road Play Park: Last August, a new park opened with accessible equipment for all children.
