Just last month, details were announced for a new music festival to join the line-up of events in Belfast this summer. The Botanic Summer Sessions was set to take place in Botanic Gardens from Thursday, June 26, to Saturday, June 28, 2025. Launched by CRD Live, Co Down talent Ryan McMullan was confirmed as a headline act following his recent tour show at the Telegraph Building.
Cancellation Announcement
The Portaferry singer-songwriter was scheduled to perform on Saturday, June 28 at Botanic Gardens. However, in a statement issued on Monday morning, organisers revealed that the event will no longer proceed. The statement cited the failure of Belfast City Council to ratify the required permissions, leading to the cancellation of Ryan McMullan's show. Organisers conveyed their disappointment at the decision and reassured ticket holders that refunds will be processed.
Council's Response
Belfast City Council spokesperson explained, "Elected members decided not to proceed with these events at full council on 1 May, following concerns about the lateness of the applications and the extended disruption for park users and residents."
