Investigation Launched as Car Tipped Over in Portrush Incident

Police say they are "making enquiries" after a car appeared to be hoisted up by a group of young men and pushed over onto its side.

Portrush Incident:
The incident is believed to have happened in the Eglinton Street area of Portrush, near the train station. A video circulating on social media appears to show a group of men tipping a small, yellow colored car over in what police have described as "criminal damage".

Further Response:
The incident has also been condemned by car enthusiasts. The influential 'Port Car Scene' Facebook account said: "It's clowns like this that ruin it for the rest of us. If that's how you lot behave, keep it at your own meets. That's not how we do it." The Facebook account added: "Hopefully it gets dealt with fast." A PSNI spokesperson said: "Police are aware of a video on social media of criminal damage to a yellow-colored vehicle, which is believed to have occurred at the Eglington Street area of Portrush and are currently making enquiries. Anyone with any information in relation to this incident is asked to contact police on 101, quoting reference number 597 21/04/25. Alternatively, you can submit a report online using our non-emergency reporting form via http://www.psni.police.uk/makeareport/"

Police Warnings:
This comes after police issued multiple warnings about "anti-social driving" and "car cruising and ‘diffing’ practices" ahead of the Easter weekend on the North Coast. Causeway Coast and Glens Chief Inspector, Siobhan Watt, had said: "Please enjoy your time here and what the North Coast has to offer, and remember that together we can encourage Safer Roads, Safer Communities, and Safer Socializing".
