Thunderstorm Alert: Yellow Warning Issued for Northern Ireland

A yellow weather warning is in place this morning with the possibility of thunderstorms later in the day. The Met Officehas issued the warning on Saturday, June 14, and it will be in place from 6am to 6pm with there being the chance of disruption due to the heavy rain and possible thunderstorms.
Rainfall Warning
The heavy rain will spread to the North and West of the country and is expected to ease off in the afternoon. The Met Officesaid: "Areas of heavy rain and some thunderstorms will spread north and west across parts of Northern Ireland early on Saturday morning. The rain will turn more showery in the afternoon and there will be a risk of thunderstorms."
Potential Impacts
Rainfall will vary across the warning area and some places missing the heaviest rain. However, where heavy rain occurs, 15-30 mm of rain is likely and a few areas may perhaps see 30-50 mm falling in a few hours. Gusty winds and hail may also accompany some of the thunderstorms.
