Police Shoot Dog After Reported Attack in Co Down

Police have shot a dog after it reportedly attacked a man and a woman in Co Down.

Police attended the scene in the Rathmullan Drive area of Newtownards on Thursday evening, April 3. The man and woman received first aid before being taken to hospital. Footage showed armed officers approaching the passageway where the dog was shot.

The street was sealed off, and a significant police presence was visible at the site. Reports mentioned the animal as an XL Bully type dog. The PSNI confirmed the dog was destroyed by trained officers due to public safety concerns.
