Justice Served: Partner Killer Sentenced to 19 Years

A 36-year old man who beat his vulnerable partner 'again and again and again until he killed her' was today (Friday) told he will spend a minimum of 19 years behind bars for her murder.

Background of the Case

As he imposed the tariff upon John David Scott formurderinghis 32-year old partner Natasha Melendez, Mr Justice Weir said he had inflicted multiple injuries upon the mother-of-four in prior assaults before the final and fatal attack in March 2020. This occurred in her Finch Gardens home in Lisburn where the senior judge said was a place she should have felt safe.

Tragic Turn of Events

Following the fatal attack on March 22, 2020, Ms Melendez spend a period in hospital where she passed away on the morning of April 1, 2020. Prior to the Tariff being imposed, Mr Justice O'Hara was addressed by barristers for both the prosecution and defence.
