Father's Mission: Turning Grief into Support for Others

A man from Northern Ireland, Eamonn Karran, is on a mission to help other grieving men after the death of his teenage son in a road collision six months ago. A Father's Unbearable Grief: Eamonn's 18-year-old son Noah passed away after a crash in Park, near Claudy, on September 12, 2024. Eamonn expressed that the sudden death of his son brought 'unbearable levels of grief' and found solace in a support group formed by those who shared similar losses. Launching 'Men's Time to Talk': Eamonn is initiating a new group called 'Men's Time to Talk' as part of the Road Victim Support Northern Ireland-Donegal initiative to assist bereaved men in sharing their grief in a supportive environment. The initiative offers various forms of support, including counseling and peer support groups. Eamonn acknowledged the societal expectation for men to remain strong during times of loss and hopes that this new support group will provide a safe space for men to process their emotions and find comfort amidst grief.
