Caught on Camera: Man Jailed for Multiple Offences in Belfast Arrest

A man has been jailed for five months for multiple offences following a viral video of a man tackled by police in Belfast. Mario Lakatos, 27, Sentenced

Mario Lakatos, 27, received the sentence at Belfast Magistrates Court on Tuesday, May 27, after pleading guilty to a number of offenses which included theft, assault on police, and breach of a deportation order. Police Encounter on Social Media

It comes after a video emerged on social media of a man being tackled by police officers on Albertbridge Road on Sunday, May 25, and arrested. Lakatos was found to have entered the UK between March 21, 2024, and May 25, 2025, in breach of a deportation order. Sentenced to Jail

APSNI spokesperson said: 'A 27-year-old man has been sentenced at Belfast Magistrate's Court today, Tuesday, 27th May, after pleading guilty to offenses including theft, assault on police and the breach of a deportation order.
