Elderly Man Arrested for Attempted Murder After Violent Altercation

A man in his 70s has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after an alleged incident in Co Antrim. Detectives are appealing for information following a report of an attempted stabbing in Carrickfergus last night.
Alleged Incident
Reports indicate that around 7.40 pm, a man carrying a knife attempted to access a property in the Scotch Quarter area. Two individuals inside the residence sustained injuries trying to prevent his entry.
Police Response
Upon police arrival, the suspect became hostile, resulting in the deployment of a Conducted Energy Device by trained officers to prevent harm. The man, in his 70s, was subsequently arrested on multiple charges, including attempted murder, and is in police custody.
