Tragic Outcome: Fatal Accident Claims Man's Life in Co Derry

A man has died after a serious one-vehicle crash in Co Derry on Sunday.

Details of the Incident

At around 12.10pm on Sunday, June 1, police responded to a report of a fatal crash involving a silver Peugeot Partner van on the Grange Road in Magherafelt. The driver, identified as 54-year-old Tony Wright from the Magherafelt area, suffered serious injuries and was rushed to the hospital for treatment but tragically passed away shortly after.

Investigation and Appeal for Information

Inspector Cherith Adair from the PSNI's Collision Investigation Unit stated, "Police were alerted to a serious road traffic collision involving a silver Peugeot Partner van on the Grange Road. Officers arrived at the scene along with emergency services. The driver sustained severe injuries and was taken to the hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries soon after. Collision Investigation Unit detectives are actively looking into the circumstances of the crash and are seeking information from witnesses or individuals with relevant footage, such as dash-cam recordings.
