A man in his 70s has been arrested in Northern Ireland 'under the Extradition Act for criminal damage hate crime offences' that occurred in Florida in 2023, police say.

Officers from the PSNI’s International Policing Unit arrested Liam Mackin at Musgrave Police Station on Thursday morning, March 13. According to APSNI statement, 'The man was arrested under the Extradition Act for criminal damage hate crime offences that occurred in Flagler County, Florida, USA in November 2023.' He is scheduled to appear before Laganside Extradition Court later on Thursday, March 13.

KRW Law, representing Liam Mackin, stated that he is a 73-year-old disabled man facing an extradition request by the USA related to alleged hate crime offences in Florida. The firm emphasized that Mackin strenuously denies all allegations and plans to contest the application.
