61-Year-Old Man Receives Three-Year Sentence for Exploiting Women in Belfast

A man has received a three year prison sentence after being convicted for sexually exploiting vulnerable women in Belfast. Derek Brown's Sentencing

Derek Brown, 61, appeared at Craigavon Crown Court today where he was sentenced for multiple offences connected to the trafficking of vulnerable women in Belfast and the supply of Class A drugs on dates between October 8, 2016, and June 14, 2023. He was convicted of human trafficking, controlling prostitution for gain, sexual assault, paying for sexual services, and drugs-related offences, including a Class A controlled drug. Detective Inspector Rachel Miskelly, from the Police Service’s Organised Crime Branch, said the defendant exploited vulnerable young women in Belfast. He would provide them with drugs to control them. Brown was suspected of exploiting four young women, using drugs in exchange for sexual encounters. Encouraging Victims to Speak Out
