Race Against Time: German Police Pray for Breakthrough in Search for Madeleine McCann's Body

Revealing the Investigation

A significant new search for Madeleine McCann's remains has commenced today in Praia da Luz, Portugal, with police under pressure to gather evidence against the chief suspect. German Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA) officers, likened to the FBI, have landed at the holiday spot armed with advanced ground-penetrating radar that can probe up to 15 feet underground, according to The Sun.

On the Hunt for Clues

They're acting on fresh intelligence and believe this operation might be their last shot at uncovering crucial forensic clues. 'It's now or never,' a source stated plainly. The investigation is homing in on major groundworks conducted around the time Madeleine disappeared from her family's Ocean Club holiday flat in May 2007, when she was just three.

Focus on the Prime Suspect

Detectives suspect her body or belongings, such as her pyjamas, could have been concealed in trenches in the vicinity. Approximately 30 German operatives were spotted erecting tents and cordoning off areas in Atalaia, just outside Praia da Luz. The search will also target a cottage about half a mile from the resort, previously linked to Christian Brueckner, the prime suspect, reports the Express.

Time is of the Essence

Brueckner is currently incarcerated in Germany for raping an American woman in the same area in 2005. The area in question, which served as a well-known shortcut for Brueckner, also leads to the property where an assault occurred in 2005. It has been suggested by sources that even though Brueckner wasn’t residing at the cottage back in May 2007, he was known to frequent it.
