Convicted: Lurgan Man's Decade of Child Sex Offences Exposed

A Lurgan man has been convicted of nine sex offences against six children over the course of a 10 year period.

Patrick Lavery, of Ballynamoney Road, Lurgan, was convicted at Craigavon Crown Court on Friday, May 23, following a two-week trial after facing nine child sex offence charges that took place from 1999 to 2009. The 40-year-old had pleaded not guilty to the charges which included four counts of gross indecency towards two boys and a girl, four counts of indecent assault against two girls and a boy, and sexual assault on a girl. Following the conviction, one of Lavery's victims said he was 'a dangerous man who was highly manipulative and got away with his crimes for a decade'. Lavery was remanded in custody after being found guilty on all nine charges and is now due to be sentenced on Thursday, September 4.
