Premier Inn Motivates London Marathon Runners with 'Keep Go-Inn' Rename

A hotel was rebranded as the 'Keep Go-Inn' to motivate thousands of runners participating in the challenging London Marathon yesterday.

Marathon Boost

The Premier Inn in Canary Wharf, Westferry, altered its name to spur on the athletes towards the finish line. Runners received an additional morale boost as they neared the Limehouse Tunnel and upon exiting it, a much-needed encouragement given the heat of the day. The initiative followed a survey of 457 marathon participants, with 43 per cent identifying the eastern city stretch between miles 15 and 21 as one of the most difficult sections. Around 42 per cent reported struggling to maintain their pace around Canary Wharf. Three-quarters claim they couldn't have completed the marathon without the cheers from the side lines.

Importance of Preparation

Three quarters of runners consider a good night's sleep the night before as one of the most crucial aspects of preparing for the 26.2-mile route. To ensure quality rest and reduce travel time, 44 per cent opt to stay in a hotel before the race. Additionally, according to OnePoll statistics, 48 per cent recognise the importance of a good breakfast. Lucy Waterlow, a British Athletics coach, emphasises the importance of a good breakfast for endurance and provides valuable advice for pre-race nutrition.
