Up to 50 firefighters are tacking a fire at a former school site in Co Derry this Saturday morning.
Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service Response
The NIFRS received a call at 4:52 am on Saturday to attend the blaze at the former Faughan Valley school in Drumahoe. Currently, 45 firefighters are on site, supported by six pumping appliances and one aerial appliance.
History of the Site
The derelict site in Drumahoe was formerly Faughan Valley High School before merging with Clondermott High School in 2004 to form Lisneal College. It has experienced multiple incidents, including a suspected arson attack last year.
Current Situation
Local residents are advised to keep windows closed while the Drumahoe Road is closed at junctions with the Glenshane Road and the Fincairn Road due to the fire. Updates on the ongoing incident to follow.
