Irish athlete Sharlene Mawdsley has made her relationship with a double All-Ireland winning hurler public by sharing an image of the couple on Instagram. The photo was taken at Semple Stadium, where Tipperary recently secured a 1-30 to 1-21 victory over Waterford. Both Mawdsley and Tipp hurler Michael Breen wore matching Premier county jerseys in the photo, which has received nearly 20,000 likes to date. Many people offered their congratulations and good wishes in the comments section of Mawdsley's post, including Irish singer-songwriter Una Healy who reacted with a love emoji and Mawdsley responded with two love-struck emojis in kind. In response to not being tagged, Michael Breen playfully commented, 'Any tag nah?' He also added the post to his Instagram story with the tongue-in-cheek comment, 'This fan was following me around all day.' Various others left good-natured remarks on the post, including fellow Irish runner Cathal Doyle who joked, 'Love the hard launch Sharlene,' reports the Irish Mirror. Another referred to the couple as 'Two of Tipp's finest athletes. Magic.' While another stated, 'Awwwwwww shar about time.' Someone else said, 'Awe love this.' This personal milestone comes on the heels of Mawdsley's professional triumph, where she, along with Sophie Becker, Rhasidat Adeleke, Rachel McCann, made up the Irish women's 4x400m relay team that secured a spot at the 2025 World Championships in Tokyo with a time of 3:24.69 at the World Relays in Guangzhou, China. Mawdsley also played a key role in helping Ireland's mixed 4x400m relay team secure their spot, alongside teammates Conor Kelly, Rhasidat Adeleke and Cillin Greene Sign up to our free sports newsletter to get the latest headlines to your inbox
