Passenger Removed from Jet2 Flight After Sharing Flight Anxiety

A holidaymaker was removed from a Jet2 flight for expressing anxiety about flying, triggering a demand for a refund. Beth Milligan, a 25-year-old makeup artist, and her boyfriend, Declan Gillen, had paid £1,300 for a Jet2 package holiday to Spain. Beth, who identifies as a nervous flyer, encountered issues when boarding due to her flight anxiety.
Flight Anxiety Incident
Beth informed Jet2 staff about her anxiety, assuring them that she typically feels fine once on board the plane. She explained that her anxiety was exacerbated by a recent health issue involving chest and rib discomfort, which doctors had deemed non-threatening to travel. Despite these reassurances, Beth was labeled a 'medical liability' and forced off the plane.
The incident, which Beth describes as discriminatory, left her and Declan unable to fly and seeking a full refund. Jet2 stated that Beth was not deemed fit to fly, citing the priority of customer and employee health and safety.
Beth voiced her frustration at the treatment received, emphasizing that she felt 'gaslit and robbed' by the experience.
