The video appears to show two young males in a garden when they are attacked by a gang in what one local MLA described as a 'savage attack'. There have been appeals for calm amid fears the attack could 'light the fuse on a situation that has been simmering' in the Waterside area of the city for some time.

Increased Sectarian Tension
Following the gang beating, social media footage showing a large group of youths in dark clothing gathered elsewhere in the Waterside the following day. The footage, set to techno music, appears to show a bus being attacked as it passes through the area.
