Police Appeal After Spate of Car Break-ins in East Belfast

Police have issued an appeal for information following a series of overnight car break-ins in East Belfast.

Reports were made to police of attempts to break into cars in the Mount Merrion area of the city between 10pm Thursday, March 27, and 5.30am Friday, March 28. Various items, including cash and a mobile phone, were stolen, and one vehicle was taken and later found on fire in Turf Lodge. It is believed that a single group is responsible for all the incidents.
Inspector's Statement
Inspector Moutray stated the need for witnesses and information. He highlighted multiple areas where the incidents occurred and specified the stolen items. The inspector mentioned the theft of a vehicle, subsequent sightings, and the car's discovery on fire. Additionally, a failed attempt to steal a motorbike was reported, leading police to suspect the same group's involvement in all incidents. An investigation is ongoing.
