The Untold Battle of a Northern Ireland Woman Diagnosed with Endometriosis

A Northern Ireland woman has opened up on her year long fight to get answers that led to her finally being diagnosed with endometriosis.

The Journey Begins
Nicole Scott, 32 and from Lisburn, was told by a doctor that the worst pain imaginable she was experiencing 'was all in her head'.

Seeking Answers
After she came off the pill in 2021 after 12 years due to recurrent ruptured cysts on her ovaries, Nicole, who now lives in Kent, says that a year later she started to get what she thought at the time was 'horrendous' period pain.

The Diagnosis
Nicole managed to get a consultation and have a scan on the same day. It came back clear but the doctor said she had all the symptoms of endometriosis.

The Turning Point
Things eventually came to a head when Nicole had her first massive flare-up, leaving her passing out on the bathroom floor due to the pain.

Recovery and Struggles
Nicole underwent surgery where she was diagnosed with stage four endometriosis. Despite some relief after the operation, the pain returned and impacted her life drastically.

Hope on the Horizon
After advocating for herself, Nicole is now poised for a full hysterectomy to combat the debilitating illness.
