Discover the awesome activities, the cultural tours and the conveniently located hotel they called home for the weekend. From jaw-dropping scenery to unforgettable experiences and fantastic bars and restaurants, Sasha and Matt experienced just a snippet of what the Maiden City has to offer.

A Wonderful Weekend
Sasha said they loved every minute of this incredible weekend. She said: “There is so much to do in Derry~Londonderry, and when Discover Northern Ireland invited us to take this giant adventure, Matt and I couldn’t wait to get going.

Hotel Delights
“Our hotel for the weekend was the Bishop's Gate Hotel, and it is just so cosy. The big windows in the rooms make for the perfect spot to chill with a book - and it’s right in the centre of town so you are so close to everything.

City Exploration
“Once we checked in, we couldn’t wait to get out to sample some of the city’s famous nightlife. Dinner at Pyke ’N’ Pommes had been on my bucket list for so long, and it really didn’t disappoint – the fish tacos were incredible.

Saturday morning started bright and early as we enjoyed a delicious breakfast at the hotel before making our way to the Foyleside Shopping Centre, our meeting point for Martin McCrossan City Tours.

Insightful Tours
On our wee walk we were guided around the walls and got to learn the history of the city. After the tour, we visited Yum Cakes Bakery – they do pop-ups in Belfast, but actually getting to visit the shop was awesome.

Cultural Gems
We also took a dander around The Craft Village which is full of local artisan shops, before visiting the most stunning building in the city, The Guildhall.

Exploring More
After a short walk over the Peace Bridge, we took a mini tour of the Walled City Brewery – we’ve done this before, and honestly, it’s absolutely unreal every time – the lunch offers are fab, the food was impeccable, and their After Eight Stout was delicious.

Art and History
Next up was The Tower Museum, and I loved it! They have some of the Derry Girls sets on loan from Channel 4, and I just couldn’t get the Cranberries out of my head.

Culinary Delights
Afterward, we made our way to Stitch & Weave – there are gorgeous views of the Peace Bridge from here, and I knew we were on to a winner the second I saw a cheese board on their starter menu.

Enjoying Nature
On Sunday morning, we met with the Far and Wild guides to do an ecological tour. These guys offer lots of amazing activities, we’ve done long boarding before with them and can’t wait to try moonlight kayaking or have a go on their Dragon SUPs.

Beach Retreat
Before we made our way home, we took a trip to Benone Strand, no trip to the Causeway Coast is complete without a walk along this beach, and we took the chance to visit the Sea Shed and grab a Spanish Hot Chocolate.
