The Silent Love Language of Dads Revealed

Dads' Unique Display of Affection

According to a survey of 2,000 adults, fathers are more likely to demonstrate their affection through practical gestures, such as paying the dinner bill, offering DIY assistance at home, and sending a thumbs-up emoji. The survey found that 49 per cent of respondents believed their fathers would describe themselves as 'not good at emotional stuff'. Instead, dads tend to show their love by lending tools, helping with house moves, and checking car tyres and oil.

The Challenges of Emotional Expression

The research reveals that a notable 35 per cent don't view their father as adept at managing emotions, with 14 per cent confessing they have never even embraced their dad in a hug. The study also highlighted that one in five respondents have never told their father 'I love you', and a third have never heard an 'I love you' from their dad, although it appears that women are marginally more likely to receive this affirmation than men. But it's not just dads holding back - a quarter of us don't ask our dads about their feelings, and nearly half rarely or never indulge in a proper heart-to-heart with them.
