Investigation Launched into Deliberate Fire at Crumlin Road Courthouse

Fire crews have been called to tackle another blaze at the old Crumlin Road Courthouse. The incident, being treated as deliberate, was reported at 10pm on Monday, May 19.
Historic Landmark in Flames
Firefighters were called to reports of a fire at a derelict building on Crumlin Road, Lower Shankill, Belfast on Monday 19 May 2025 at 10pm. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used one hose reel to extinguish the fire. The cause of the fire is believed to be deliberate.
Regeneration Plans Revealed
Regeneration plans for the iconic courthouse have been uncovered, with property investors preparing to restore and repurpose the site. Plans include partial demolition, restoration, adaption, and alteration of the existing Courthouse to create a mixed-use development. The public will have the opportunity to provide feedback before a full planning application is submitted.
