Safety Alert: Two Rescued from Boat Mishap Without Lifejackets

The Coleraine Coastguard issued a warning after they responded to a 999 call on Monday evening, as two people had fallen from a boat at Mountsandel in Coleraine. The casualties made it safely ashore but had 'no lifejackets or other safety equipment,' according to the emergency services team. In a statement posted on social media, a spokesperson for Coleraine Coastguard said: 'Please do not venture onto the river in any watercraft without essential safety equipment, particularly lifejackets, and correct clothing. Also note, alcohol and boating rarely mix!'

The warning was issued amidst a mini heatwave across Northern Ireland. The Met Office anticipates a maximum temperature of 20 degrees Celsius today in Belfast, with even warmer weather predicted for Wednesday at 22 degrees. The Met Office forecast for Tuesday includes dry conditions with some sunshine, while Wednesday is expected to bring plenty of sunshine and very warm temperatures.

From Thursday to Saturday, the weather is forecasted to be cooler and cloudier, with the likelihood of an occasional light shower. Mainly dry and cloudy conditions are expected on Friday and Saturday.
