Adjournment Delays Start of Belfast NAMA Trial

Belfast NAMA Trial Adjourned
The long-awaiting ‘NAMA’ trial, which was due to finally start in Belfast today (Monday), has been adjourned again. Loyalist activist Jamie Bryson, former Sinn Fein MLA Daithi McKay, and Sinn Fein party member Thomas O’Hara have all been charged with conspiracy to commit misconduct in a public office which dates back almost a decade.
Charges and Allegations
The charges against the defendants revolve around events relating to the workings of the Assembly’s Committee for Finance and Personnel. The three defendants deny the charge of conspiracy and are facing allegations of misconduct.
Legal Proceedings
The trial was set to begin at Belfast Crown Court today, but legal issues raised by the defense barristers have resulted in an adjournment. The trial is expected to resume after the legal matters are addressed.
