DNA Evidence Unveiled in Belfast Pub Break-in Case

Breaking In and Leaving a Trace
A 44-year-old man who broke into a Belfast bar and left his DNA on a bottle of Jägermeister was jailed today (Wednesday). Stephen Francis Cornelius Brady receives a 27-month sentence at Belfast Crown Court for a charge of burglary. Judge Gordon Kerr KC referred to him as being 'caught red-handed'.
Incident Details
Brady, with an address at Dismas House Hostel on Belfast’s Ormeau Road, has an extensive criminal record with 181 previous convictions, including 26 prior burglaries. He was caught breaking into the Haymarket Bar on Gresham Street, spending two hours inside collecting bottles of alcohol and leaving his DNA on a Jägermeister bottle. Brady's DNA matched the sample left on the bottle, and his mobile phone was found in the bar that led to his arrest. His life, as stated by defence barrister Kelly Doherty, has been 'marred by alcohol and drugs' leading to repeated offenses.
