Colson Smith Grills Coronation Street Boss on Character Exit

Coronation Street's executive producer Kate Brooks was left rather surprised by the reaction of one of the cast members as she geared up to break the news of their departure from the show.

Colson Smith's Queries
Colson Smith, who recently took his final bow as the much-loved Craig Tinker in Wednesday's poignant episode, had a couple of pressing queries for the soap's boss when she called him for a chat. Craig's exit from the cobbles was confirmed last year, with his heart-wrenching final plot unfolding this week.

Definitive Exit
Colson didn't hesitate to inform Kate that, should he have to depart, he wanted Craig's exit to be definitive. He expressed: "For me to go, I would want to leave. I would want to die, I would want the door to be shut, so then I can kind of know in my head that Corrie has been this, Corrie has done that, and it is now done, and Craig's journey is over."

Heroic Demise
Upon learning about the proposed "heroic" demise for his character, Colson felt it was the ideal conclusion for both Craig and himself as part of the cast.
