Man Arrested After Dramatic River Escape from Police

A man jumped into the River Lagan in an effort to escape from police in South Belfast before being arrested in connection with attempted burglaries.

Police Chase: Police received reports of a male attempting to enter properties in the Stranmillis area of the city. The suspect was quickly detained after attempting to swim away in the River Lagan. He was arrested for two attempted burglaries and remains in custody.

Police Statement: According to APSNI spokesperson, the suspect was located by officers and pursued on foot before taking the desperate leap into the river. The swift actions of the police led to his quick arrest.
