Man Jailed for Allowing Drunk Teen to Drive, Leading to Fatal Crash

The Incident
A man who allowed a drunk teenage girl to get behind the wheel of his car, which then crashed, killing her, was sentenced to seven months in jail. Sammy Bingham, 34, of Winona Crest, Craigavon, Co Armagh, pleaded guilty to several charges related to the incident.

Timeline of Events
Bingham and Tara Wright went to a pub in Ballygowan, Co Down, to attend a party on Saturday, March 23, 2019. Witnesses observed Wright in the driver's seat of Bingham’s car, despite being underage and heavily intoxicated. She then drove off at high speed, resulting in a fatal collision later that night.

Consequences
The crash scene investigator determined that the car was travelling above the speed limit before the collision, and both Bingham and Wright were intoxicated at the time. Despite the severity of the incident, Bingham did not provide immediate assistance, worsening Wright's condition and ultimately leading to her death.
